How does Farming God’s Way work?
Farming God’s Way (FGW) is an established agricultural model to ensure food security, which has proved extremely successful elsewhere and which we are keen to see taking root in our city and outside our borders.
Various spaces in communities that are not being utilized or otherwise used for dumping and could ideally be used to uplift communities through urban farming are identified. With the involvement of Joburg City Council, sponsors and local members, two urban farming projects in Johannesburg have thus far been successfully handed over and future projects started in the Muldersdrift area.
We are immensely excited to take FGW to our neighbouring countries and look forward to sharing the success stories coming out of Lesotho, where the project was recently launched .
For more information on FGW or to get involved, please contact our Project Leader, Delmaine Fritz at delmainefritz@gmail.com.
How do we start a ‘Farming God’s Way’ project?
Identify an unused area in a community
Gather and unite people of the community through urban farming
Plan, invest and develop an action plan for the urban farming area identified
Start the project with the help of the community and teach them basic urban farming skills
Once the area has been successfully developed and handed over to the community, the Project Leader will maintain monthly check-in’s and guidance.
